Honest answers, every step of the way.

If your question isn’t covered here, bring it to your consultation. There are no stupid questions about a medical procedure on your body.

How does laser tattoo removal actually work?

The laser delivers extremely short pulses of light at wavelengths absorbed by the tattoo’s ink. That energy fragments the pigment into particles small enough for your body’s lymphatic system to absorb and clear naturally, over weeks. The fading you see between sessions is your own immune system doing the work — which is why we space treatments 6–8 weeks apart.

How many sessions will I need?

Most tattoos require 6 to 12 sessions. Variables that affect this include: tattoo age (older tattoos generally clear faster), ink colors (black and dark blue respond well; green, light blue, and yellow are tougher), ink density and layering, location on the body (areas with strong blood flow clear faster), and your skin type and overall health. We give you a personalized estimate at your free consultation.

Does it hurt?

Most patients describe it as the snap of a rubber band, repeated rapidly. Surface cooling and topical comfort options make it tolerable. Pain perception varies by location — ribs, ankles, and inner arms are more sensitive than outer thighs or shoulders. Sessions are short (usually 15–30 minutes), and you can pause at any time.

How much does it cost?

Costs depend on tattoo size, ink content, and sessions needed. Rather than quote a flat per-square-inch number online, we give you a written estimate at the free consultation, so you see the total cost before committing. Multi-session package pricing is available. We accept multiple payment methods and discuss options openly.

Is it safe?

Laser tattoo removal has a well-established safety profile when performed by a properly trained, licensed practitioner with the right equipment for your skin type. Possible risks include temporary redness, swelling, blistering, scabbing, and rarely, lasting pigment changes or scarring. We review your medical history, assess your skin, and discuss risks individually at consultation. Nevada State law (effective October 2023) requires laser tattoo removal to be performed by qualifying licensed practitioners under physician oversight — a standard we meet on every treatment.

Are there side effects?

Typical short-term effects include redness, mild swelling, tenderness, and sometimes blistering or scabbing for a few days. These are normal and part of how the body responds. Less common are temporary changes in skin pigmentation (lightening or darkening), which usually resolve over weeks to months. Permanent scarring is rare when proper protocols are followed and aftercare is followed correctly.

What’s the recovery between sessions?

Most people resume normal activities the same day. Keep the area clean and dry for 24–48 hours, avoid direct sun, and apply recommended ointments. Strenuous exercise and hot tubs/saunas should be avoided for several days. Full healing of the surface typically takes 1–2 weeks; the underlying clearance work continues for weeks afterward. We give you written aftercare instructions every visit.

Can all tattoo colors be removed?

Black, dark blue, and red typically respond best. Green, light blue, purple, yellow, and white are historically more difficult — though pico lasers have expanded what’s achievable. Some inks, particularly white and certain cosmetic pigments, can react unpredictably; we always test these first. We’re honest at consultation about realistic outcomes for your specific tattoo.

Can you treat cosmetic tattoos and microblading?

Yes — with extra precautions. Cosmetic pigments vary widely in composition, and some can shift color (turning grey, orange, or other shades) when treated. We require a test spot for cosmetic tattoo work before committing to a plan, and we use shielding for treatments near the eye area.

Am I a candidate if I have darker skin?

Yes, with appropriate device settings and a careful approach. Darker skin types require more conservative energy levels and often more sessions to reduce the risk of pigment changes. We assess your Fitzpatrick skin type at consultation and adjust the plan accordingly — and may recommend a test spot before starting.

Can I treat a tattoo I just got?

Wait until the tattoo has fully healed — usually 6–8 weeks after the tattoo was placed. Treating earlier risks complicating healing and produces unpredictable results.

What should I do to prepare for a session?

Avoid tanning and direct sun exposure for several weeks before treatment. Don’t apply lotions, makeup, or self-tanner to the treatment area on the day of your visit. Eat beforehand and stay hydrated. Wear comfortable clothing that gives access to the treatment area.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes — and obligation-free. You’ll meet a practitioner, have your tattoo assessed, get a written treatment plan and price estimate, and have all your questions answered. If you decide not to proceed, there’s no follow-up pressure.
